Description |
This is a shingle bolt branding iron of the Peabody & Buland Mill that was located where the county garage now is in Castle Rock. This "B" brand was used by this mill on the north and south forks of the Toutle River. It was given to the museum by Seth Tippery who was an old time shingle bolt driver on the Toutle River. The branding iron has a 2" base, round, with the bottom cut out around the letter "B". This base is almost an inch thick and then narrows to a 1" square that is 5" long. It has a 1.25" long slot in the middle for a handle. |
